Magna cum laude event

The modern Olympic games are the most prestigious international sporting occasions, involving summer and winter sports competitions in which thousands of competitors from all over the world take part in a range of events. More than 200 teams, representing sovereign governments and territories, compete in the Olympic games, which are regarded as the world’s premier sporting event.

The Olympic Day was first celebrated on June 23rd, 1894 at the Sorbonne in Paris, marking the beginning of the modern Olympic games. The objective was to encourage sports participation worldwide, regardless of age, gender, or level of physical fitness.

I had the good fortune to attend and take part in this year’s Olympic Day festivities at Bo City’s Southern Area Stadium.

Actually, the event was much more than just a sporting one. It was a time when there were lots of sporting, cultural, and educational events.

Let’s move!
On Olympic day, we remember the creation of the Olympic Movement by our founder Pierre de Coubertin. He wanted to make the world a better place through sport. This is why Olympic day is always the perfect opportunity to get up and move.

When we do sport, it keeps our mind and body strong and healthy.

When we do sport, it inspires us to always give it our best.

When we do sport, it makes us dream, it spreads joy and it brings us together.

When we do sport, we live our new Olympic motto: Faster, Stronger- Together.

This is the beauty of sport: it inspires the world to move, and it brings us all together- as friends and as a community, no matter where we are or how we choose to move.

In this Olympic spirit, I wish you a wonderful Olympic day celebration, and I say: Let’s move!

Thomas Bach ( IOC president).

Sincere congratulations go out to every member of the Nation Olympic Committee SL🇸🇱, especially the president (Prince Sualley) and his entire executive team for planning and hosting such a great event.
